  We need:

  • DHCP server
    • what would be the behavior of appliances when in a network there would be more than 1 DHCP server (e.g. our DHCP server and VMware provided)? maybe a requirement: "don't run in a network with a DHCP server"?
  • Configuration repository
    • this should be accessible from appliances started in network
    • configuration should be pulled or pushed to appliances at boot time

  After a quick look at ovirt I think that it doesn't fit our needs. It's a tool like VMware VI client for managing virtual machines: pools, storage, etc.

  We need a central configuration repository and a tool in appliance to pull that configuration (Puppet has such feature so we could simply utilize it).

  The first release could be a small appliance with DHCP server started and Puppet installed. Other ideas?
